I watch Watchmen movie in series unfold in monthly installments when it first appeared in the '80s. I never liked the ending, but the book proved, then and now, that Alan Moore was the best comic book writer around. Not that I needed any convincing by that time, but it's probably the best superhero comic book I've ever read, and one of the most detail-oriented comics I've seen, no matter the sub-genre.
My favorite character from the book has always been Rorschach. When one knows that the superheroes in the book were all based on Charlton characters, (and the history behind each of them), it makes the reading of WATCHMEN even more fun. Without Steve Ditko, WATCHMEN would never have existed. Chalk up another one to that Objectivist genius.
